Client Agreement, Consent & Liability Acknowledgement

Please read this in full before your first session. It explains what this work is, what it isn't, and what we've each agreed to.

01Acknowledgement of Scope & Nature of Work

I understand that Jenna Nye provides nervous system–focused, psychosensory and wellbeing-based sessions, which may include Havening Techniques® or related approaches.

I acknowledge and agree that:

  • Jenna Nye is not a medical doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist, or other regulated medical professional.
  • The work offered is not medical treatment, psychotherapy, or psychiatric care.
  • These sessions are not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment, or advice from a GP, psychiatrist, psychologist, psychotherapist, or other licensed healthcare provider.
  • I remain responsible for seeking appropriate medical or mental health support where required.

02Informed Consent & Voluntary Participation

I confirm that my participation is voluntary and that I may pause or stop a session at any time.

I understand that:

  • My engagement, honesty, and willingness to participate are integral to the process.
  • Outcomes vary between individuals and depend on factors outside the practitioner's control.
  • I am responsible for communicating any concerns, discomfort, or changes in my wellbeing during or after sessions.

Clients Under 18

Where the client is under 16 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must complete this agreement and give informed consent on the client's behalf. The parent/guardian confirms their legal relationship to the client and remains responsible for decisions regarding the client's participation.

Where the client is aged 16 or 17, they may give their own informed consent where they demonstrate sufficient understanding of the nature, purpose, and implications of the work (in line with standard UK safeguarding practice for young people, sometimes referred to as Gillick competence). Jenna Nye reserves the right to request parental/guardian involvement or consent at her discretion, particularly for younger clients in this range or where capacity to consent is unclear.

In all cases involving a client under 18, standard safeguarding obligations apply, and confidentiality may be lawfully breached where there is a safeguarding concern, as set out in Section 6.

03No Guarantee of Outcomes

I understand that while these methods are widely used and may be beneficial, no outcomes or results are guaranteed.

I acknowledge that:

  • Individual responses vary.
  • No promises or assurances of specific results have been made.
  • Jenna Nye does not guarantee resolution, improvement, or cure of any condition.

04Liability & Personal Responsibility

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I agree that:

  • I take personal responsibility for my wellbeing during and after sessions.
  • Jenna Nye is not responsible for decisions I make, actions I take, or outcomes that arise outside the agreed scope of the work.
  • Nothing in this agreement seeks to exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

05Conduct & Right to Refuse or End a Session

I understand and agree that:

  • Jenna Nye may pause, end, or decline a session, at her discretion, if my behaviour is abusive, threatening, offensive, discriminatory, or otherwise makes her feel unsafe, whether during a session, in correspondence, or in any other communication.
  • Jenna Nye may decline to deliver a session if I appear to be under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs, or otherwise appear unable to safely participate or give informed consent.
  • Where a session is ended early, paused, or declined for any of the reasons above, the session is treated as delivered and the fee is non-refundable, as the time and availability were held in good faith.
  • Jenna Nye may decline to offer further sessions or bookings to me at her discretion, including where this conduct policy has been breached, without this affecting fees already properly charged under this agreement.

06Confidentiality & Safeguarding

All sessions are treated as confidential.

However, I understand that confidentiality may be lawfully breached where:

  • There is a risk of serious harm to myself or others.
  • There is a safeguarding concern involving a child, vulnerable adult, or elder.
  • Disclosure is required by law or court order.

I also understand that anonymised aspects of my case may be discussed with professional peers for supervision or professional development purposes, with all identifying details removed unless I give explicit written consent.

07Data Protection & Privacy

I understand that my personal data is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and data protection legislation.

My information will be:

  • Stored securely
  • Used only for professional and administrative purposes
  • Not shared with third parties without lawful reason or my consent

Further details are available in the Privacy Policy.

08Cancellation & Fees

I understand that:

  • Appointments may be cancelled by email with at least 48 hours' notice.
  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice, or non-attendance, are chargeable at the full session fee, except where otherwise required by law.
  • Where a session has already been paid for in advance and is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or not attended, the fee already paid for that session is retained and is non-refundable. Where a session has not yet been paid for, the full session fee becomes payable regardless of non-attendance.
  • This applies to each session individually. If I have paid for multiple sessions in advance, only the specific session(s) cancelled with insufficient notice are affected; sessions cancelled with proper notice, or not yet taken, remain valid and available to be rescheduled.

09Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, regardless of the client's country of residence.

I confirm that:

  • I have had the opportunity to ask questions.
  • I give my informed consent to participate in this work.
